Mountain Mama Madness

General Info

These are all-inclusive, supportive, song-filled events for anybody who loves to sing.  If you love to sing but don’t feel comfortable doing so in front of a group, these weekends are for you.  If you are an accomplished singer who would like to learn and grow from the experience of new songs, voices, and harmonic challenges, these weekends are for you, too.  It is always a special and SAFE time with female friends.

The weekends begin around 5:00 Friday evening, and we wrap up around noon on Sunday. Workshops take place Friday evening, Saturday morning, and Saturday afternoon, and each is 2 – 3 hours long. Saturday night is Concert Night AKA Fun Night. Sunday morning we sing Gospel songs, eat leftovers, and say our good-byes sometime around noon.

The main cabin is a two-bedroom, two-bath, full amenities home with a fireplace and an ample porch with a view you will never forget, located in a remote region of the North Georgia mountains near Helen.  ALSO – There is a new bunkhouse with another full bath!

In the main house, there are two queen beds, two single beds, two couches, and plenty of floor space for other inflatable mattresses. The new bunkhouse has several queen AND single mattresses and sleeps approximately 12 people.   Unless we fill to the maximum – and we will let you know if that is the case – there is no problem finding an ideal indoor place to sleep.  Or, you may choose to bring your own tent and camping gear.  There are 3 decks where you could either pitch a tent or put your own inflatable mattress out there to sleep. There are also a million acres of national forest right outside the cabin door where you can pitch a tent.

Meals are shared by all participants. The meal “assignments” are made after the registration deadline and will be included in an e-mail. Please know that nothing exceptional or fancy is expected for whatever meal you are assigned. You probably don’t want to do anything that takes too long as it will take time away from your SINGING!

The kitchen is equipped with most utensils/pots/pans. If you need something fancy, please bring it with you [i.e. waffle iron].

Directions to the cabin from Helen, GA. will be attached to an e-mail after your registration is confirmed. You will need to use a map to get to Helen. The directions are relatively easy. Please know that the last 5-mile road to the cabin is gravel and most cars can make it just fine. However, if at all possible, please try to carpool with other MMM participants (particularly those with 4-wheel or all wheel drive vehicles or those who know the road well.)

Please feel free to bring an instrument. It’s fun to jam with others on breaks. But remember, this is a SINGING weekend and not a time to learn how to play the songs on your respective instruments.

There may be various items for sale at the different MMM weekends. For instance, Kari or others may have their CDs, t-shirts, etc. There may be MMM t-shirts, sweatshirts, or tote bags for sale. So, bring cash if you think you might be interested….however, there is NO pressure to buy anything.
