Mountain Mama Madness

General Info

These are all-inclusive, supportive, song-filled events for anybody who loves to sing.  If you love to sing but don’t feel comfortable doing so in front of a group, these events are for you.  If you are an accomplished singer who would like to learn and grow from the experience of new songs, voices, and harmonic challenges, these events are for you, too.  It is always a special and SAFE time with female friends.

The workshop begins around 5:00 Wednesday evening, and we wrap up around noon on Sunday. Workshops take place throughout the 5 days on the mountain, and each is approximately 2 hours long. Saturday night is Concert Night AKA Fun Night. Sunday morning we usually sing Gospel songs (BYOG), eat leftovers, and say our good-byes sometime around noon.

The main cabin is a two-bedroom, two-bath, full amenities home with a fireplace and an ample porch with a view you will never forget, located in a remote region of the North Georgia mountains near Helen.  Most lodging is in the beautiful and spacious bunkhouse with another full bath!

In the main house, there are two queen beds, two single beds, two couches, and plenty of floor space for other inflatable mattresses. The bunkhouse has several queen AND single mattresses and sleeps approximately 12 people.   Unless we fill to the maximum – and we will let you know if that is the case – there is no problem finding an ideal indoor place to sleep.  Or, you may choose to bring your own tent and camping gear.  There are 3 decks where you could either pitch a tent or put your own inflatable mattress out there to sleep. There are also a million acres of national forest right outside the cabin door where you can pitch a tent.

Except for Wednesday dinner (BYO or pick up something on the way) all meals will be provided. BYOB.

Directions to the cabin from Helen, GA. will be attached to an e-mail after your registration is confirmed. You will need to use a map to get to Helen. The directions are relatively easy. Please know that the last 5-mile road to the cabin is gravel and most cars can make it just fine. However, if at all possible, please try to carpool with other MMM participants (particularly those with 4-wheel or all wheel drive vehicles or those who know the road well.)

Please feel free to bring an instrument. We just ask that you do not bring your instruments into the singing workshop circles, but in other contexts they are welcomed.

There may be various items for sale at the different MMM weekends. For instance, Kari or others may have their CDs, t-shirts, etc. There may be MMM t-shirts, sweatshirts, or tote bags for sale. So, bring cash if you think you might be interested….however, there is NO pressure to buy anything.
